Unit 00 was the first Eva created by Gendo Ikari. During an activation with Rei Ayanami piloting it. The pilot was severly wounded during this incident. In the beginning(When it was orange) Unit 00 was not suitable for battle. It was, however, after an upgrade(At which the color changed to blue).
